Sociological Lessons for Life

About!

Here is the man, the myth, the legend, Dr. Kyle Green. Dr. Green is a sociology professor who is interested in sports culture, storytelling, and masculinity, amongst other things. He hosts multiple podcasts and is a presidential teaching excellence award winner. Beyond academics, Dr. Green serves as a voice of reason for The Dave Matthews Band, defending them against overhate but advising against full on obsession. He would not willingly seek their music out, but if they were playing on the radio he would leave it on because "they're nice". A topic he is quite passionate about is woodsplitting. As he explained, almost every movie portrays woodcutting inaccurately, a choice meant to demonstrate a character or actor's masculinity and strength in that moment. Stop by his office sometime to hear more. Finally, when asked what Harry Potter house he was in, he responded by saying he had never read the books and had only seen one of the films. He requested we say he is from the House of Oz, whatever that means. We enjoyed our time in class with Dr. Green and thank him for getting this class up and running in the first place. Green Green
